Imagine, warm water aquatic massage: being floated, massaged and stretched and learning to offer this gift to friends and family. Come explore Aquatic Massage and sacred sites of the Big Island with us. In this rejuvenating week you will learn the fundamentals of Aquatic Massage, working on each other, and see, hear and travel to sacred, little-known sites of East Hawaii.
Aquatic Massage as a giver, is a way to tune in to yourself, your breath, your partner’s breath, find presence and learn conscious touch. We will explore simple techniques of massage and lomilomi on land and in the water. As a receiver, you will learn to let yourself go; the only thing you hear is your breath. The warm water surrounds you and your partner gently massages away all tension.
The Secrets of Puna: East Hawaii or Puna is our district. It is the youngest part of the island and is still growing, with an active volcano; Pu’u o’o Vent. We have the purest air in the world. It is a mixture of lush rainforest, new lava fields and pristine ocean. Puna is outside of the usual tourist paths and home to thermal hot ponds, tide pools, black sand beaches and Lava Tree Park.
Catch a ride on an authentic double-hulled Hawaiian canoe. Captain Kiko will take us on an ocean adventure like no other you have experienced. http://waakaulua.com/index.htm.
Experience an active volcano! We will take a trip to Volcano National Park where the Hawaiian goddess Pele lives, breaths and sometimes belches! We will hike to areas little known by tourists and watch the red glow fill the sky in the evening.
Your week can be as packed full of adventure and learning as you would like or as laid back and restful. Kalanihonua Retreat Center is the best place for both. It has on-going yoga, hula and Hawaiian crafts-making classes or you could just relax by the pool. www.kalani.com
